The story of Water for Elephants is a very heartening story about Jacob (pattinson) who is orphaned suddenly because his parents die in an accident. After the accident he leaves his education where he was just on the verge of becoming a vet and he ends up on a train which will turn his life inside out. Incidentally the train is a ferry for a circus group which travels from one town to another every day. And he joins the circus as an animal trainer. Here he meets the beautiful Marlena (Reese) and he falls head over heels for her but she is married to the ruthless owner of the Circus named August (Waltz) who is over possessive about his beautiful wife Marlena.
Jacob earns respect when he trains the Elephant which is a replacement of a horse which dies accidentally and now the Elephant (Rosie) refuses to train. Jacob trains Rosie and she performs some of the most amazing stunts ever. But we move over to the romantic track between Jacob and Marlena which is quickly caught by August who by comes very agitated and he becomes even agitated that the women he always wanted her to love him is in love with a boy she just recently met. And then starts a track which will be remembered for one of the best acting done by the cast. The climax of the track fails to live up to what the plot had given a platform to it. But no complaints the movie is just to mesmerizing that you can surely let go some mistakes. But surely there are no loopholes in the script and is one of the better stories Hollywood has produced in the recent past in the Drama genre.
